Is this a yeast infection?

I recently been getting very itchy down there to the point im crying. I figured out that vinegar baths help, and so does lotion to stop itching. I also noticed that when I dont wear underwear and loose garments the itching is not bad. It doesnt burn when I pee however but I am just incredibly itchy. I just started monistat tonight and its a 3 day process so we should see how it goes but does this sound like a yeast infection to you? I just started a new birth control and it is known that birthcontrol can cause yeast infections when you are about to get your period and I just got my period yesterday...SOMEONE HELP PLEASE HELP!
